Besides trading, the Geneva office has the role of group headquarters where the group administration is consolidated. Supervision of finances and assigning them in the most efficient manner is another important task. More importantly, information is collected and in co-ordination with the managers of the various offices used to form a general policy for the group.
The founder chairman, Francis O. Patthey, started the company in 1980 together with Pino Alvigini. Mr Patthey had for most of his working life been involved in speciality fibres, particularly Alpaca and built up a successful business in Arequipa, Peru (Inca Group). Mathias Nobs, who started with Mr Patthey in 1978 as a trader, has been chairman of the board since 2010.
Today, the company is managed by Robin Alran. He first came into contact with alpacas during his studies in Bolivia, where he developed a profound interest for the culture of the Andes.
